Stephan Franklin, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Judicial Affairs
As the assistant dean of students/ director of the Office of Judicial Affairs, I oversee all judicial processes for the campus, interpreting and enforcing all campus and university-wide rules and regulations pertaining to undergraduate and graduate student behavior and ensuring the standardization of the application of university regulations across judicial venues and in all areas under the university’s jurisdiction. I manage, guide, and integrate the work of a team of judicial affairs officers operating in the Division of Student Affairs and Housing and Residential Services.
I also have oversight for the Student Resource Building.
I am an Alumni of Southern Illinois University.

Kristen Burnett, PhD, Assistant Dean of Students and Associate Director
As an assistant dean of students, my primary responsibility is to oversee the student conduct and leadership areas in Housing & Residential Services. Additionally, I serve a collaborative role in the Office of Judicial Affairs where I manage the academic integrity caseload and adjudicate campus behavioral cases.
I am a proud alumna of UCSB (BA, MA, PhD) and the University of Edinburgh (MA).
Suzanne Perkin, Assistant Director, Policy Analyst & Hate Incident Response Coordinator
As the assistant director of judicial affairs, I work on cases concerning both academic and behavioral misconduct. I also advise the director on policy issues. Furthermore, it is my responsibility to investigate and respond to hate incidents and hate crimes, as well as educate the campus on our prevention and response efforts. I am an alumna of UCSB and hold a master's degree in education with an emphasis in guidance and counseling from the University of Dublin, Trinity College.
Jacques Zalma, Assistant Director
Jacques holds degrees in Computer Science from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master’s in Higher Education from the University of Southern California. He has been working in Student Conduct at UCSB where he adjudicates incidents of academic integrity and violations of University Housing since 2008. Prior to UCSB, Jacques has held various positions in residence life at USC, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State San Bernardino. Jacques is involved with WACUHO, NASPA, and ASCA organizations.
Joaquin Becerra, Assistant Director
As an Assistant Director in the Office of Judicial Affairs, I help to resolve
academic integrity and behavioral issues. I also work with Housing and
Residential Services in adjudicating student conduct concerns to ensure that our
residence hall and apartment communities continue to be safe places for personal
and academic development. I am a proud alumnus of UCSB (BA) and Indiana
University (MS).
Ko Kashiwazaki, Assistant Director
As an assistant director of Judicial
Affairs, I uphold campus and housing policies for the University. I am an
alumnus of UCSB and completed graduate work in Postsecondary Administration and
Student Affairs at the University of Southern California.
Priscilla Pereschica, Conduct Officer and Research Assistant
As a conduct officer, I work on behavioral misconduct cases and help uphold university regulations to ensure the safety of the campus community. I am an alumna from CSU Fresno and a graduate student at UCSB.
Robin Brown, Office of Judicial Affairs Confidential Assistant
As a confidential assistant in the Office of Judicial Affairs, I work alongside Assistant Dean and Director, Stephan Franklin, in assuring the overall safety of the campus while educating students of their responsibilities to be honest and fully adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. I am a recent alumna of UCSB and am proud to represent the University as I aid students, faculty, and parents alike in understanding the campus judicial process and their individual rights.
